However, the conductor still hadn’t stopped honking the horn after three or four stops, and an old Polish man started to get a little riled up.

“…s’gonna wake people up turn that thing off..” He mumbled.

The train slowly meandered on, emitting blasts from the horn every few seconds.

“..damn thing honking give it a rest…noisy.hmsdfklj…..”

We arrived to the Smith/9th station, where a couple stragglers tried to enter the train after the door had closed by kicking the doors. The two offenders stood grinning and laughing outside the train, waiting for the doors to reopen.

A loud buzzing noise started.

“oh now that’s a new one..haven’t heard that one before,” the old man commented drowsily.

The train didn’t move. A voice came over the loudspeaker, instructing the conductor to open the doors. The Brooklynites in the train started to take sides.

“He ain’t gonna let ‘em in!”
“He has to, doors gotta open and close before he can leave the station.”

The buzzing stopped.

After a few more moments in the standoff between conductor and passengers, the train started to inch forward,  and the honking recommenced.

“Oh shit! He’s leaving them there! That conductor should get written up.”
